WELFARE ACTIVITIES
The Waverley RSL Sub-Branch Inc. is a community-focused organisation with a commitment to the welfare of veterans and widows and work within the local community. We are very mindful of our ageing veteran community and we are committed to ensuring that the best possible assistance is provided to our members whether they be in their own homes or residential aged care facilities.
WAVERLEY RSL SUB BRANCH INC. HAS A TEAM OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS WHO CAN

Visit sick members in Hospital and at Home;

Support members in Nursing Homes;

Support and assist during times of Bereavement.
Assistance is also provided with a referral to appropriate support agencies, for example:

YOUNGER VETERANS
The Welfare office works with eligible veterans who find themselves needing assistance with sourcing emergency financial support, to pay rent and bills, organising and funding household services, securing housing for those facing or at risk of homelessness, and providing home, hospital and nursing home visits.
AFTER HOURS CARE
Veterans Mental Health issues take various forms – confusion, dementia, suicide threat, anxiety, aggression. There are varying degrees of resolution – GP through to hospital/facility admission, telephone helplines, family intervention.

CLAIMS AND ADVOCACY
Veterans needing assistance with claims and advocacy are referred to the Noble Park Pensions Office. They will assist veterans and their families to navigate the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) compensation and rehabilitation services.
FUNERALS
Any Service, Affiliate Members or Women’s Auxiliary Members are entitled to an RSL Funeral Service, this can be organised upon request.
ACTIVITIES PROGRAM
Balance and Mobility Groups: This is a weekly program which is aimed at members wishing to improve their balance and fitness. We conduct two 30 min. sessions every Friday morning at 10.15 am and 11.00 am.
Women's Chat Group: This group meet on the last Wednesday of each month from 1.00 pm to 2.30 pm in the Sunset Room.
Day Club: This group meets every Thursday morning from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm in the Sunset Room. The group enjoys entertainers, bus outings, guest speakers, movie outings, trivia and board games. New members are always welcome, so why not come along and join in the activities.
